Please mark your calendars! On Sunday, May 25 (Memorial Day weekend), we will gather together for ONE SERVICE at 10:35 AM. A coffee time will start at 10:00 AM. Please plan to come early for coffee to visit with your fellow members. We are working on more ways to get to know one another. Here is one of those opportunities!

Thank you to all who participated in our food drive last weekend. Over 100 bags were collected from our parking lot, delivered, and shelved at the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry by our Confirmation students.

Save the date! Our next Second Saturday for Service will be Saturday, June 14. Set aside a few hours that morning to serve in the community with our church family. Questions? Call Ann Richards at (630) 406-6113.

This week is the week our church provides dinner at Lazarus House in St. Charles. Our church has two teams that rotate this monthly duty on the first Wednesday of each month. This week's "Team One", under the leadership of Julie Beckman, has six cooks and three servers. Each person cooks ahead a part of the dinner in his or her own home and delivers it hot for serving by 6:45 PM. Oftentimes, servers come from among the folks at the Center, other times our servers help serve those who come to dinner. "Team Two", under the leadership of Brenda Shover, has three folks right now and could use a few more cooks and one or two servers to step forward before the beginning of June. If you have any questions about what might be involved, please ask either of these women. Please be in prayer for this ministry and those they serve.

A bridal shower for Alissa Hill, fiancée of Peter Wright, will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 9:00 AM in the Fireside Room. She is registered at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Questions? Call Barb Hjelm at (630) 406-9978.

The Bindings Book Club will meet on Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 PM at Barb Hjelm's home, 340 N. College, Batavia. The book they are reading is 44 Scotland Street by Alexander McCall Smith. They will be comparing the style and character studies with those of Maeve Binchy in The Lilac Bus. Questions? Call Barb Hjelm at (630) 406-9978.

Security reminder: If your group meets at church after business hours, please remember to check our exterior doors before you leave. The rule is the last person out of the building locks the doors. Please get instructions if you don't know how to secure the building. Thank you!

The dates have been set for Vacation Bible School 2008! Save the dates June 23-27 and make camp and vacation plans around this exciting event.

Opportunity for Men! Wes Ryd is organizing a 5-6 day mission trip to Honduras in the fall at Rancho Ebenezer, run by World Gospel Outreach. More information can be found in an informational document, which you can download here. If you have interest, please call Wes at (630) 879-4568.

We need YOUR help! We want to provide the most options for childcare for families with little ones. Help is needed now in all areas: nursery, little lambs, preschool and with elementary children during the first and second services. Please prayerfully consider spending time with the children of Batavia Covenant. They need a safe and loving group of teachers and mentors to attend to their basic needs and nourish their faith too! Please contact the office, Julie Johnson at (630) 482-3911, or any member of the Christian Formation team. We'd love for you to meet this great bunch of children!

It's not too late to think about summer camp. Brochures for Covenant Harbor and Covenant Point are on the table in the Northex or online at www.covenantharbor.org and www.cpbc.com.

As a community, it is an honor to celebrate and remember together. If you would like to request altar flowers be placed in honor of a special occasion or in memory of a loved one, please contact Linnea Winquist at linneawinquist@gmail.com or (630) 466-0336. You can also make a general contribution toward the altar flower fund to help us add a touch of beauty to the service each week.
